Weather

Welcome —or bienvenue, if you’re our neighbors to the north! We might be biased, but we think Manchester, New Hampshire, is a fantastic place to be, no matter which season is stretching out around us.

With winter snow swirling around Manchester at the first snowfall, to the right-on-time unexpected springtime flurry, New England is a magical place to be in the winter. Nothing keeps us home, and in a city with so much to offer, we’ll happily bundle up and trek outside for our favorite restaurant or a trip to the theatre, swing by the museum, or enjoy a walk along the rail trail. Ski and Snow tubing? Yes, a trip to McIntyre Ski Area will take care of that. Don’t be surprised if you see us huddled outdoors by heaters, soaking up the lights on Hanover Street or cheering on friends in a road race or a parade downtown.

Spring in Manchester? Absolutely. It’s that magical time of year when traces of snow on downtown sidewalks give way to outdoor patios and unique dining spots. Parks awaken from their winter naps with beautifully landscaped areas, and the city’s youth sports and recreation scene comes alive in full swing.

Spring gives way to summer, which starts in either May or June, depending on which New Englander townie you ask, but if you ask us, we’d say that summer kicks off with our world-renowned Taco Tour.

Summer in Manchester is electric with energy, excitement, and unforgettable experiences around every corner. Whether it’s catching a Minor League Baseball game, enjoying a concert or show at the SNHU Arena, dancing in the streets at a community block party, or celebrating with parades and fireworks, there’s always something happening. From fairs that shut down city blocks to family-friendly gatherings, MHT is the place to be all summer long.

Fall in Manchester is a vibrant showcase of everything we love about New Hampshire. From the colorful foliage that transforms the city into a stunning backdrop to signature events like Granite State Comic Con and Manchester Brewfest, the season invites residents and visitors to explore our unique shops, restaurants, and festive fall activities. It’s the perfect time to discover all that Manchester has to offer.

So, like the trees and the snow and the fireworks, or our festivals and block parties, our small businesses and locally owned restaurants, the city and everyone here will be waiting to welcome you to our cozy and vibrant slice of the 603 in the largest populated city north of Boston. We’re anything but run of the mill, after all.

Winter

December through March is cold and snowy, with temperatures often dropping below freezing and snowfall being common. Make sure to pack warm clothing, including a heavy coat, gloves, and boots, especially if you're planning to enjoy outdoor activities like ice skating or skiing in nearby areas.

Spring

April through May has temperatures varying greatly from day to day. You may experience chilly mornings and mild afternoons, so layers are key. Rain showers are also frequent, so bringing an umbrella or rain jacket is advisable.

Summer

June through August is the most pleasant time to visit, with average temperatures of 70 and 80°F (20-30°C), making it perfect for exploring the city's parks, outdoor festivals, and the nearby lakes. However, it can feel humid at times, so staying hydrated and wearing light, breathable clothing is essential.

Fall

September through November is another beautiful time to visit, particularly for those hoping to see the region's famous foliage. The weather is typically crisp and cool, with daytime temperatures ranging from 50 to 70°F (10-20°C), so bring a jacket for the evenings.
